Theme/Message of the film:
Just to get it out of the way, the theme of the movie is not Multiple Personality Disorder or Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). The theme or message of the movie is how we go on to forget our closed ones, friends and family as we get on with our life and become more and more busy as we grow up. This the allegorical and recurring theme of the film where the multiple personalities of Adi represent the "close ones" and the baby in the foetus shown at the starting of the film and later in the Creep house scene as Adi explores the house represent the growing up while the Adi being a successful writer shows the aspect of getting busy with our daily life and jobs which is often monotonous and tedious but also necessary for his stature. In the film this comes with a twist as Adi is going through a writer's block and his other personality Harry (The Heavy Monstrous Voice) is helping him write his novel and taking him through hallucinations for getting more ideas. His playful identity Neil (Normal Voice) also helps Harry acomplish his mission of ultimately killing Adi as revenge taken by all of his personalities. His female personality vaguely named "The Female" is more of a cultured middle-class Bengali Woman who is teaching Adi about the sufferings he doesn't have to go through due to being rich and also ultimately conveying her motivation of getting freedom from Adi's mind. All these were done because Adi never believed in his disorder and used to treat his personalities like nothing more than fictional voices in his head. Thus, clearly the Identities being sentient, wanted to take revenge from Adi as they all wanted to share Adi's body and go into the "Light" as they proclaim. This ultimately leads to the death of the personality Adi in a psychadelic final confrontation in a bathroom on the day of launch of Adi's book. This death, though ambiguous and left for the audience to decide, happens mostly in his imagination and the bounds of his head while his other personalities take over his body in The Garden Of Eden which is the biblical location about which Adi wrote in his latest book before his demise.
